Company History

Building Specialties Inc. has operated in Alaska since 1996; however, its true beginning started in Minnesota in 1976 as Baker Construction & Roofing.  John Baker started this business and grew it into a successful corporation providing commercial, government and residential construction services.  Then, John Baker moved his family and business to Alaska in 1996, where the business was renamed to Building Specialties.  John has since operated in Anchor Point and has aspired to grow the business and the community.   John's two sons, Josh and Jacob, have joined him in this venture; so that together they can bring the best quality, proficiency and customer service to their clients.

 

What the company does

Building Specialties specializes in commercial and residential construction with over 60 years of combined experience in foundations, wood and steel frame construction, roofing and finish work.  We are also warranty trained, Carlisle-Syntec rubber roof applicators for Alaska. The industry has brought the business all over the Kenai Peninsula and the Anchorage area.  Whether it's remodeling a home or construction of a new commercial building, Building Specialties has what it takes to get the job done right.

Building Specialties is licensed in the state of Alaska, bonded to ensure your project is done right, and insured so their clients can have the peace of mind that they are in good hands.
